# L3 references: Zoomer digital futurist / Nerve

Lens L3 is the 2016 film *Nerve*: phone-native, neon on black, live-dare tension, watchers vs players, the feed as the product. It leads on Join Room, live states, the record-and-send flow, and every moment money moves. A page that is *only* L3 is a Snapchat rip, so each pick below is also checked against L1 (arcade / street bigness) and L2 (Linear / Stripe restraint).

Shape filter: every pick is a marketing landing that leads into an in-product app, for a new consumer / creator / entertainment product. Sites that are the app with no landing (Twitch, Kick, pump.fun) were evaluated and dropped on shape, not on taste.

Captured 2026-09-02 with a local Playwright script (Chromium 151, dark color-scheme) at 390x844 (iPhone UA, 2x), 768x1024 and 1440x900. Each `*.json` beside a screenshot is the verbatim h1 / h2 / p / CTA dump of that page, kept for R5.

Picks, in order of how much they carry the lens:

| # | Site                                     | What it proves for L3                                                                                          |
| - | ---------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 1 | [PrizePicks](https://www.prizepicks.com) | Live-money tension on black with a real accent system, and the live board is on the landing before you sign up |
| 2 | [Partiful](https://partiful.com)         | Phone-native, violet-to-magenta that sits next to the MegaChat logo, and a create flow with zero friction      |
| 3 | [Shotgun](https://shotgun.live) | The feed *is* the landing; black as a stage where the content supplies the color |

## 1. PrizePicks: <https://www.prizepicks.com>

**Justification (one line):** the only site found where "watchers become players" and "money moves live" is the whole page, rendered on black with violet + lime + a red LIVE pill instead of one accent.

**Lens principle served:** L3 live-dare tension. The hero is a single 3D-tilted pick card with one binary action (`Less` / `More`), then a `Live` red pill heads a horizontal feed of more cards. Passes L1 (giant white display type, "Back your takes. Earn $$$ if you're right.") and L2 (8px radii, tight type scale, cards with one job each).

**Verbatim copy (1440 landing):**

* Kicker: `New Feature`
* Headline (h1): `Stack Player & Team Picks in One Lineup`
* Subhead: none in the hero. Section 2 pair: h2 `Make your picks. On anything.` / p `Players, teams, culture — whatever's cooking in the group chat. Run it on PrizePicks.`
* Primary CTA: `Explore Picks` (nav CTA: `Get the app`; secondary nav: `Sign In`)
* Feed header: `Live •` `Popular Picks`, filter pills `EXPLORE` `NFL` `MLB` `TENNIS` `UFC`, card CTA `Pick Now`
* Lime promo bar: `Play $5 get $150 in Bonus Lineups` / `Pick Now`
* Deeper: `Back your takes. Earn $$$ if you're right.`, `What's in our bag`, `Make Smarter Picks.`

**Sign-up screen (where `Explore Picks` actually lands):** `/download/welcomeoffer`. h1 `Download the PrizePicks App` beside h1 `Play $5 Get $150 in Bonus Lineups` (`If you win`), QR `Scan code to download app`, then a horizontal wall of purple testimonial cards (`Cash outs super easy and quick.`, `Extremely simple to use.`, `Join our 600K+ members of Discord`). `app.prizepicks.com` returns a bot wall to headless browsers; it was not bypassed.

**What MegaChat takes from it:**

* The accent system, not a single accent: violet primary on near-black, acid lime for the money line only, red only inside the `Live` pill, green/red reserved for outcomes. This is the pattern for the pastel set: one primary, one money/secondary, semantic colors that appear only when money or state changes.
* The Less/More card is the shape of a MegaChat join moment: one card, one number, two big buttons, nothing else. Join Room and the record-and-send confirm should be this card.
* Put the live board on the landing (below the preserved hero) the way PrizePicks puts `Live • Popular Picks` under its hero. No login wall to watch.
* Money copy is blunt without being Red Bull: `Earn $$$ if you're right.` is the tone for "paid per second in USDC".
* Mobile keeps the tilted card and the lime bar; the layout collapses without losing the moment. The 390 shot is the model for MegaChat mobile.
* Do not take: the promo-bar clutter above the nav, the QR-code sign-up funnel (MegaChat is web-first), the DFS legal wall.

## 2. Partiful: <https://partiful.com>

**Justification (one line):** the best example of a phone-native product whose hero gradient is literally the MegaChat logo's violet-to-magenta, with a create flow you can start with no login wall.

**Lens principle served:** L3 phone-native and "chill but exciting". Real people mid-scream under a violet to magenta to orange gradient, an iMessage-style invite card floating in the corner, a slim `New! Sell tickets on Partiful` ticker at the top. Passes L1 (the photo is a moment, the headline is three words) and L2 (one primary CTA, white button on gradient, the `200k+ ratings` pill is the only decoration).

**Verbatim copy (1440 landing):**

* Headline (h1): `Parties are back`
* Subhead: `The easiest way to get your guests on the same page`
* Primary CTA: `Create invite` (nav CTAs: `Login`, `Create`)
* Ticker: `New! Sell tickets on Partiful`
* Trust pill: `200k+ ratings`
* Section 2: h1 `Fun, modern invites in 1-click` / p `100% free, no paywalls. Customize the perfect invite.` with chips `Backgrounds` `Fonts` `Animations` `Posters`
* Later: `Let's get the party started` / `Find us on any browser, iPhone, and Android`

**First in-product screen (`/create`, no login required):** h1 `Untitled Event`; theme chips `Classic` `Eclectic` `Fancy` `Literary` `Digital` `Elegant` `Simple`; inline fields `Set a date...`, `Can't decide when? Poll your guests`, `Hosted by (optional) host nickname`, `Location`, `Unlimited spots`, `Cost per person` (`New! Sell tickets`); `+ Link` `+ Playlist` `+ Registry`; RSVP options as three big emoji buttons `Going` `Maybe` `Can't Go`; right rail `Theme` `Effect` `Settings` `Preview`; bottom-right `Save draft`.

**Bonus (`/explore`):** dark surface, `explore` / `Find the best events and the communities behind them`, CTA `See more on the app`, city columns `new york city` / `los angeles` with a left icon rail `Home` `Explore` `Create` `Send a card`.

**What MegaChat takes from it:**

* Palette adjacency test passed: this gradient sits next to `design-assets/branding/wordmark-stacked-bubble-dark.jpg` without fighting it. Use it as the proof that violet/magenta can be the primary and the red-orange can go.
* The create flow is the page, not a form: the invite you are building is the thing you edit, fields are inline, the live preview is on the right, `Save draft` is the only persistent button. Create Room should feel like this while keeping L2's engineered inputs.
* RSVP as three one-tap emoji buttons is the Join Room feeling: one thumb, one decision, emotional feedback. Translate to MegaChat's join / record / send.
* A slim top ticker (`New! Sell tickets`) is how to announce bounties or a live room without a banner.
* Rounded but not bubbly: 12 to 16px radii on cards and pills, 8px on buttons. This is the "soften the radii" target.
* Do not take: everything below the hero goes light and watercolor. MegaChat stays black. Take the flow and the hero gradient, not the below-the-fold palette.

## 3. Shotgun: <https://shotgun.live>

**Justification (one line):** a nightlife product whose landing is the event feed itself, on black that stays black, where every bit of color is content (posters, artist art) plus one coral accent for "when and how much".

**Lens principle served:** L3 the feed as the product. A rounded hero card on `#151515` (not a full-bleed), three phone mockups showing the in-app `FOR YOU` feed, and 600px down the actual `POPULAR EVENTS IN UNITED STATES` grid with prices. Passes L1 (extended-caps display type; the `KETTAMA / SARA LANDRY / BLACK COFFEE / MIND AGAINST / WHOMADEWHO` artist marquee is a pure hype moment) and L2 (search bar in the nav, genre pills, one accent, disciplined grid).

**Verbatim copy (1440 landing):**

* Headline (h1): `GRAB YOUR TICKET, MAKE MEMORIES`
* Subhead: `Download Shotgun to find the best parties in town.`
* Primary CTA: `App Store` (paired with `Play Store`); header CTA `LOGIN / SIGN UP`; organizer link `I'M AN ORGANIZER`
* Trust line: `4.9` five stars `50K+ App ratings`
* Feed header (h2): `POPULAR EVENTS IN UNITED STATES`, then `MORE EVENTS IN UNITED STATES`
* Deeper: `LOOKING TO GO OUT? ALL THE EVENTS YOU LOVE ARE RIGHT THERE!` then `GET THE SHOTGUN APP`; `DISCOVER THE BEST EVENTS IN TOWN`; `RESELL YOUR TICKET IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT`; `LAUNCHING AN EVENT? YOUR EVENT DESERVES THE BEST CROWD!` then `LIST MY EVENT`; `TRUSTED BY THOUSANDS OF ORGANIZERS`

**First in-product screen (`/en/events`, no login required):** h1 `UPCOMING EVENTS`; 3-column card grid; each card = poster, title, `City, Country` with a country tag, date + time + price on one coral line (`Wed, Sep 2 | 7:00 PM EUR 10.99`), genre pills (`RAP` `R&B` `HIP HOP` `+2`). Header keeps the search bar and `LOGIN / SIGN UP`.

**What MegaChat takes from it:**

* The room board can be the landing's second screen. Shotgun's `POPULAR EVENTS` grid at 600px is the model for surfacing the /app Booth board below the preserved hero without a login wall.
* One accent for the line that matters: coral for date + price on every card. For MegaChat that line is `$/sec` + time remaining, and it gets one pastel (the yellow from the Chargers pairing) and nothing else on the card.
* Black as a stage: the only non-content color on the page is a soft purple glow top-left. Posters carry the color. MegaChat's room cards should let the stream thumbnails carry color the same way.
* Hero as a card, not a full-bleed: a rounded panel on the page background. This is a rough-edges fix: containers with 16px radii on black read finished, not "too square".
* Mobile ships a bottom tab bar (`Home` `Search` `Tickets` `Profile`) on the marketing site. MegaChat mobile should treat the marketing page as already inside the app.
* Do not take: two app-store buttons as the primary CTA (MegaChat is web-first; the primary is open a room / join), and the mid-page section that goes white.

**Screenshots:**

* `references/L3/shotgun/landing-390.png`
* `references/L3/shotgun/landing-768.png`
* `references/L3/shotgun/landing-1440.png`
* `references/L3/shotgun/landing-full-1440.png` (full page: events grid, artist marquee, resell card, organizer dashboard)
* `references/L3/shotgun/app-events-1440.png` (first in-product screen)
* Copy dumps: `landing-390.json`, `landing-768.json`, `landing-1440.json`, `app-events-1440.json`

## Cross-cutting takeaways for L3 surfaces

1. **Accent system, not accent.** All three picks use black + one primary (violet / violet-magenta) + one line-of-money color (lime / coral) + red only for `LIVE`. That is the template for the neon-pastel set on black: primary violet, secondary powder blue, money yellow, live red, success green, each with one job.
2. **One card, one number, two buttons.** PrizePicks' Less/More card and Partiful's Going/Maybe/Can't Go are the shape of the Join Room and record-and-send confirm.
3. **The board is visible before login.** PrizePicks' `Live • Popular Picks`, Shotgun's `POPULAR EVENTS`, Partiful's `/explore`: the feed sits under the hero, no wall.
4. **Content carries the color.** On black, stream thumbnails and posters are the chroma; the chrome stays quiet so the pastel accents read.
5. **Rounded, not bubbly.** 12 to 16px containers, 8px buttons, pills for filters. None of the picks use square corners or fully round cards.
6. **Mobile is the primary layout.** All three keep the hero moment intact at 390 (tilted card, gradient photo, hero card + tab bar). Design Join Room at 390 first.

## Dropped candidates

One line each; evaluated live on 2026-09-02.

* **Arc**: now a Dia redirect ("Meet Dia, the next evolution of Arc") on bright blue; L2 with whimsy, and the product is sunset.
* **Discord**: navy with 3D cartoon characters, "GROUP CHAT THAT'S ALL FUN & GAMES"; L1 hype, not phone-native or Nerve, and the app is login-walled.
* **BeReal**: landing has pivoted to a B2B ads pitch ("Meaningful Connections", CTA "Contact us"); no in-product web surface.
* **Twitch**: no marketing landing, the root is the ad-heavy directory; purple on charcoal is generic. Only the red `LIVE` badge + viewer-count vocabulary is worth keeping.
* **Kick**: same shape problem as Twitch, and green-on-black is exactly the single-accent-on-black gripe MegaChat already has.
* **pump.fun**: the closest thing found to "watchers vs players with money moving live" (mint-green PNL leaderboard, `Callouts` feed), but app-first with no landing and a welcome modal as the first screen.
* **Higgsfield**: no hero and no h1; the homepage is a dashboard feed with two promo bars and a cookie wall, the opposite of "nothing you have to hunt for". Its acid lime + magenta pair on black is the one thing to borrow.
* **Dare Drop**: pivoted to B2B ("THE GAMING INFLUENCER MARKETING PLATFORM WHERE BRANDS GROW COMMUNITIES..."); monospace caps with rainbow-colored words reads Flash-era.
* **Tangia**: charcoal with orange as the only accent and a testimonial wall; it is the current MegaChat gripe rendered by someone else.
* **Crowd Control**: conceptually adjacent (viewers pay to trigger effects) but navy/yellow cartoon, cluttered effect cards, `Download Crowd Control` for Windows as the CTA.
* **Streamloots**: purple-gradient SaaS with dashboard screenshots and "The #1 monetization platform"; an L2 clone.
* **Parti**: pivoted to prediction markets; dark with green/red semantic pills and mono captions is competent but redundant with PrizePicks, and the hero is a political question.
* **Polymarket / Kalshi**: L2 trading restraint, dense tables, not phone-native; candidates for the L2 set, not L3.
* **Sleeper**: neon-on-navy live scores at the root with no marketing landing.
* **Stationhead**: black with a tilted phone showing a live sales counter, but App Store-only with no web product.
* **Favorited**: white centered landing with store badges; only the in-app battle screenshot inside the phone frame is L3.
* **Lapse**: hot pink on black with an editorial serif is the right instinct, but App Store-only, no in-product screen.
* **NGL**: pink-orange candy gradient with 3D props and `Download the app!`; Red Bull energy, download-only.
* **Yubo / Whatnot / Cash App**: flat yellow / yellow / green floods; neon as a wall, not an accent on black.
* **Monkey**: purple flood with ad units and consent checkboxes on the hero.
* **Suno**: prompt-box-as-hero is a good "the input is the product" pattern, but the warm orange-gold gradient is the harsh-on-black gripe, and `/create` is login-walled.
* **Krea / Pika / Zora / Retro / Posh**: dark app shell or white minimal; L2 signals, no L3 signal.
* **Jackbox / jackbox.tv**: the `ROOM CODE` + `NAME` + `PLAY` join screen is a Join Room analog, but the marketing site is cartoon L1 and the join page is unstyled.
* **TikTok Live**: renders `No LIVE streams for you yet` without login; nothing to reference.
* **Blast.tv**: esports hub wrapped in Refrag ad skins.
* **Cameo**: Fastly CAPTCHA wall to headless browsers; not evaluated, not bypassed.
* **time.fun / noice.com**: DNS fails; dead.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://jordan-7.gitbook.io/jordan-docs/internal/l3.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
